This week’s Live Loves looks at one of our favourite places to visit for a drink or a great dining experience. As restaurants, pubs and bars are opening back up, we made sure our first visit was to Coal Drops Yard in King's Cross.

We've loved this area since it opened back in 2018, and each time we go back we fall in love with another restaurant. The restaurant of choice for the first post lockdown visit was Plaza Pastor. Of course, like many people, we were slightly hesitant on venturing out. But this was partnered with a slight curiosity as to what dining out would be like post-lockdown, and of course the desire to support our amazing hospitality industry. Needless to say, we were excited!

Our Experience

On arrival into King’s Cross everything seemed to be normal; a normal amount of people, a normal amount of taxis and cars. However, as we walked closer into Coal Drops Yard the safety precautions were obvious. There were floor stickers, directional signage and many other cautionary details to ensure people were adhering to guidelines throughout. Nevertheless, all of the bars, restaurants and seating areas were full. This was the same for our restaurant of choice, Plaza Pastor, which was fully booked for the whole evening.

At the entrance to Plaza Pastor our temperatures were checked to ensure we could safely enter, and then we were shown to our table. Our table was outside, which was our preference, offering a vast amount of space between the tables either side. However, from the moment we were seated the rest of our dining experience was fairly normal – the waiters and waitresses were serving as normal, and food was readily available (which was music to our ears!).

Why Coal Drops Yard?

All in all we are so glad we treated ourselves and ventured out post-lockdown, and glad we choose Coal Drops Yard in particular. It is the perfect place for delicious food, fab bars and a vibrant setting, but with its vast amount of space and selective amount of restaurants it takes away any worry or stress from the post-lockdown experiences.

If you’re thinking of heading there in the coming weeks we would more than recommend it. Just make sure you check out our three favourite places: Barrafina, Parrillan, and of course Plaza Pastor!
